Wasouq was meant to be the easiest and safest way to buy and sell in the UAE. The idea, with my co-founder David, was to replace endless buyer-seller chat with structure: Buy It Now by default, escrow-style payment protection, courier pickup and delivery arranged by the platform, and trust tiers that went Private, then Trusted via Emirates ID, then Local Business via trade license.
We built a real React frontend on a FastAPI and Supabase backend and wrote a full product vision. It did not make it to launch. The archived version here is the frontend running against faked data, so it keeps working with no backend behind it.
