I built this site for Welkom bij de Taalclub: over taaldenkers in een beeldcultuur, a book my mother, Annemaaike Serlier-van den Bergh, wrote with Stella Braam. It came out in 2021 through Nijgh & van Ditmar.
The book is about Taaldenkers: people who are strong with language but get lost in the visual and spatial world, what is clinically called a non-verbal learning disorder. It mixes personal stories with practical advice, and it puts a name to something that affects far more children than most people realise.
My mother has since passed away. I am keeping the site here, exactly as it was, so it stays up.
